Family Law
Is legal separation recognized in Israel?
Israel does not have a formal legal separation status as recognized in countries like the US, UK, or Canada. However, Israeli law fully allows couples to enter into a binding separation agreement (heskem peiruda) that governs their financial and parenting arrangements while they remain legally married. Once approved by the Family Court, this agreement is enforceable as a court order.
