Do I have to give up my US passport to become an Israeli citizen?

For olim under the Law of Return, Israel does not require relinquishment of prior citizenship. However, the US requires its citizens to take an oath when making Aliyah and grants Israeli citizenship — this does not automatically strip US citizenship, and the US permits dual citizenship.
