Immigration & Aliyah
Can I use a notarized translation instead of a court-sworn Hebrew translation in Israel?
Generally no. Israeli courts and PIBA require translations prepared by a court-certified sworn translator (meturgam mushba) registered with the Ministry of Justice. A translation notarized abroad or certified only by a private translation agency is not accepted for immigration applications, court filings, or Land Registry transactions. For informal purposes such as an employer HR file or a bank preliminary KYC review, a notarized translation may sometimes suffice, but confirm with the specific institution first.
