Immigration & Aliyah
Can I keep my foreign health insurance instead of joining an Israeli health fund?
No. Israeli law requires every permanent resident to enroll in one of the four state-licensed Kupot Holim — foreign private insurance does not satisfy this obligation. You must still pay the health tax component through Bituach Leumi. You can hold foreign coverage in addition to your Kupat Holim membership, but not instead of it.
