What citizenship does an adopted child receive in Israel?

A child adopted by Israeli citizens acquires Israeli citizenship by naturalization upon adoption finalization. If the child is also eligible under the Law of Return (i.e., has Jewish ancestry), the citizenship process may follow a different track. Foreign nationals who are not Israeli citizens cannot automatically confer Israeli citizenship through adoption — the child's status depends on their own nationality and the terms of any bilateral agreements.
