Is child support different from alimony in Israel?
Yes. Child support (mezonot yeladim) is a separate obligation from spousal support (mezonot isha). Child support is owed for the benefit of the children and does not depend on the custodial parent's income as such. Spousal support depends on the marriage, the parties' relative means, and the applicable court's approach.
