Debt Collection
I have a foreign court judgment against an Israeli company. Can I rely on it in insolvency?
A foreign judgment is admissible as evidence of the debt but does not automatically constitute an admitted claim in Israeli insolvency proceedings. The liquidator can still scrutinise the underlying facts. For stronger protection, apply for formal recognition of the judgment under the Foreign Judgments Enforcement Law 5718-1958 before or alongside your proof of debt. Once recognised, the judgment carries the same weight as an Israeli court order and the liquidator cannot challenge its merits.
