Alimony (mezonot) in Israel is based on the parties' respective income, the standard of living during the marriage, the duration of the marriage, and the needs of dependent children. Jewish law imposes a primary duty on the husband to support the wife and children. Courts balance these factors in setting interim and permanent alimony.
