Does Israel recognize a civil marriage performed in Cyprus?
Yes. Israel's Population Registry Law (1965) requires the state to register marriages lawfully performed abroad, including civil marriages from Cyprus. Once you return to Israel with your apostilled marriage certificate and its certified Hebrew translation, you register it at the Ministry of the Interior and are treated as a married couple under Israeli law for all purposes: taxes, inheritance, national insurance, and residency status.
