Debt Collection

Can my entire salary be taken to pay a debt in Israel?

No. Israeli law protects a minimum wage equivalent as exempt from attachment — roughly the full Israeli minimum monthly wage cannot be seized. Above that floor, only one-third of the net surplus may ordinarily be garnished. This means a debtor earning close to minimum wage will have very little or nothing attachable each month. Even debtors with higher salaries retain at least two-thirds of their above-minimum earnings. The only category where higher percentages can apply is child support arrears, which by statute take priority over other debts.
