Can LGBTQ couples get married in Israel?

Same-sex couples cannot marry in Israel. There is no civil marriage available to anyone in Israel, and the religious authorities that control marriage — the Jewish Rabbinate, Muslim Qadi courts, and Christian ecclesiastical courts — do not perform same-sex ceremonies. However, same-sex couples can marry in a country that permits it (such as the US, UK, Canada, or Cyprus) and register that marriage in Israel's Population Registry.
