Debt Collection
Can an Israeli debt collector still chase me after 7 years?
After 7 years, a creditor loses the right to obtain a new court judgment against you for the debt. However, limitation is a defense you must actively raise in court — a court will not dismiss the claim automatically.
If the debt was already converted to a court judgment before the 7-year period ended, the Execution Office can pursue enforcement for up to 25 years from that judgment date. Additionally, government debts (tax, National Insurance) are collected through administrative mechanisms that operate separately from the civil limitation rules.
