What is the oppression petition in Israeli company law?

The oppression petition (*bakshat dachak*) is a statutory remedy under section 191 of the Companies Law 1999 available to any shareholder who has been treated in an oppressive or unfairly prejudicial manner. It is filed in the Economic Division of the District Court. If successful, the court can order a forced buyout of the petitioner's shares at fair value, without applying a minority discount. It is one of the most powerful minority shareholder remedies in Israeli law.
