How long is maternity leave in Israel?
Under the Women's Employment Law 1954, a mother who has worked for 12 months preceding the birth is entitled to 26 weeks of maternity leave. Of these, 15 weeks are paid through the National Insurance Institute (NII/Bituach Leumi) at 100% of the mother's salary up to the NII income ceiling. The remaining 11 weeks are unpaid leave with full employment protection. For more detail, see Maternity and Paternity Leave in Israel: Entitlements, Pay and Procedures.
