Corporate Law
Does Israel's competition law apply to my company if we have no office in Israel?
Yes. The Economic Competition Law 5748-1988 applies to any arrangement or conduct that has competitive effects inside Israel, regardless of where the company is incorporated or where contracts are signed. The Israel Competition Authority (ICA) follows an effects doctrine — if your pricing decisions, distribution restrictions, or acquisition of an Israeli company affects Israeli consumers or competitors, the ECL applies.
Foreign companies have been subject to ICA enforcement actions and mandatory information requests under Section 46 of the ECL even when they had no Israeli employees or office. For more detail, see Economic Competition Law in Israel: What Every Foreign Company Needs to Know.
