Does an Israeli startup qualify for Preferred Technology Enterprise benefits?
A startup can qualify if it meets the criteria — primarily, that it owns a qualifying IP asset and can demonstrate the required R&D nexus ratio. The practical challenge for early-stage companies is that IP may not yet be formally registered, and there may be limited income to apply the reduced rate to. PTE is most valuable once a company reaches commercialisation with identifiable IP-derived income. In earlier stages, grant programs from the Israel Innovation Authority are often more immediately relevant.
