Can I work in Israel while my status change application is being processed?
It depends on your current status. If you hold a valid work permit (B/1) and are applying to move to a different category, you may continue working under your existing permit during the review period. However, if you are converting a tourist visa (B/2) to a work permit, you cannot work while the application is pending. A B/2 carries no work authorization, and starting employment before the B/1 is formally granted is a violation of the Entry into Israel Law 5712-1952. If there is any doubt about your current authorization, consult an attorney before taking a job.
