Can I claim severance pay if I resigned from my Israeli job?
Generally, voluntarily resigning forfeits your right to severance pay. However, under Section 11(a) of the Severance Pay Law 5723-1963, a resignation caused by a material deterioration of working conditions — reduced salary of 25% or more, a hostile work environment, a significant change in role without consent — may be treated as constructive dismissal, entitling you to full severance. This is a high legal bar and requires professional advice and documentation before you resign.
